First Peter 2:9
"But you are a chosen people, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, a people belonging to God, that you may declare the praises of Him who called you out of darkness into His wonderful light."

Freedom

Galatians 5:13 For you were called to freedom, brethren; only do not use your freedom as an opportunity for the flesh, but through love be servants of one another.

There are numerous mentions of freedom in God's Word. It's clear that on thing the Lord intended for us to learn from the Bible is that we are set free because of Him. We were set free from sin by Jesus' death on the cross; free because He made the sacrifice in order to purchase our freedom. If we are in Christ, we are free indeed.

But what does that freedom allow us? Are we to act however we want in this life, seeking after our own pleasures? That question ca be easily answered with another question: Is it God's intention for us to seek out the fulfillment of our own desires? Or rather, did the Father put us on this earth to live out His will; and in that, did He grant us freedom to better allow us the ability to do so?

We are not on this planet to find happiness and pleasure, but to serve God and carry out His plans. Part of doing that is loving others and showing them God's love. We show each other love by becoming each others' servants - of our own free will. That is freedom.
