I Corinthians 13:3 If I give away all I have, and if I deliver my body to be burned, but have not love, I gain nothing.
What motivates your actions? Even serving God can be fruitless and tedious if your heart is not right. The Lord does not call us only to action, but to action with purpose God does not give us busy-work but rather Kingdom work. God's will for us always includes honoring Him and fulfilling His purpose. But if we simply try to perform tasks out of a sense of duty, we miss the point.
The apostle Paul understood that even to give up all you have is not a godly move if you do it for the wrong reasons. If we wash our neighbor's car because it's an eyesore but not out of love, we do not really honor them.. If we give gifts out of obligation rather than love, we miss the blessing that really comes with being a cheerful giver. That includes what we give to God.
The Lord does not want our time if we groan about serving Him. He does not want our money if we complain about parting with it. In all things, be motivated by love, and you will please God.
