Watch Your Mouth

James 3:6 And the tongue is a fire. The tongue is an unrighteous world among our members, staining the whole body, setting on fire the cycle of nature, and set on fire by hell.

The one member of our body that has the most potential to either uplift others or to destroy them is the tongue. With our tongue we both bless and curse. We kiss and we lie. We praise and we gossip. With our words, people can be won or lost to the Kingdom of God. No matter what other good we may be doing with other members of our body, one sentence from our mouths may bring everything crashing down.

Many of the Lord's lessons to us in His Word warn us about the use of our words. We must be careful as disciples of Christ what we say because we never know who is listening. We represent Jesus Christ and therefore should never say anything that He would not say. That is a tall order, seemingly impossible. But it should be a goal in our walk with Christ while on this earth.
