Hebrews 3:1 Therefore, holy brethren, who share in a heavenly call, consider Jesus, the apostle and high priest of our confession.
Consider Jesus seems like such a simple instruction. It doesn't even seem so much like an instruction as much as a mere statement. It seems that way, but the question is; do we consider Jesus? Let's remove the first part of the sentence and then the comma after Jesus. We're left with "Consider Jesus the apostle and high priest of our confession." Do we do that? We regard Jesus as Lord and Savior; as Son of God and Son of Man; as King of Kings and Prince of Peace. But do we consider Him apostle and High Priest? In looking at some aspects of Jesus, we overlook others.
Upon His death and resurrection, Jesus took away the veil between the people and the Holy of Holies, the most special place in the temple where the high priest could meet with God. He became the means by which we can approach God the Father. We think of this as no longer requiring a high priest in order to speak to God, but in reality Jesus replaced the high priest. It is by Him and through Him that we are granted access. Let's not take that lightly. We have a means by which to meet with God, the Creator of all.

I ran across your blog and like the looks of it - thanks! And I love your video message... kind of appropriate, I think, given some of the recent political "intentional mis-statments."
