First Peter 2:9
"But you are a chosen people, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, a people belonging to God, that you may declare the praises of Him who called you out of darkness into His wonderful light."

Choose Your Master

Matthew 6:24 No one can serve two masters; for either he will hate the one and love the other, or he will be devoted to the one and despise the other. You cannot serve both God and [money].

It's hard in this postmodern age to even recognize that we idolize things in our lives and place them above God in our priorities. But that's why it's so important that we diligently seek after the Lord and His will. The more we seek God in our daily lives, the less we will desire the other gods that seek our worship.

It's easy to fall into the money pit and seek after all the things that life has to offer. Several well known pastors have shown us that even those who serve God as a profession are not immune to money's allure. But the Lord is clear - we cannot serve both Him and money. That goes for fame and other idols as well.

We must examine ourselves and determine where we stand. Do we stand with earthly masters or do we stand with The Master?
