First Peter 2:9
"But you are a chosen people, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, a people belonging to God, that you may declare the praises of Him who called you out of darkness into His wonderful light."

The arrogance of man

I Cor 1:25 For the foolishness of God is wiser than man's wisdom, and the weakness of God is stronger than man's strength.

We, as human beings, love to boast in our achievements. We solve a simple problem or reveal a "new" idea and we revel in the glory that is ours. We believe that we have become the most clever person ever to live when we have achieved something that we perceive as great. Sometimes others even take part in the celebration of self.

Oh how God must look down upon us and think "If only they knew..." The truth is, no matter how much we accomplish, no matter how much we solve, no matter what worlds we discover or diseases we cure, we are but lowly creatures and our wisdom is nothing compared to the wisdom of the Lord. In fact, God's Word says that our wisdom does not even compare to God's foolishness. This is not to say that God is foolish, but rather that the very least of His wisdom is far superior to the best of ours.

Because we are not nearly as wise as we think we are, we often fail to realize that God's plan is best for our lives. We see an apparent outcome and conclude that things have not worked out or that we need to take some other course, but we need to recognize that God knows what the final outcome will be and He has all of the knowledge, all of the power, and all of the ability to bring it about. All of our wisdom will never succeed in doing what He can do.
