Decrease

In order to fully follow Christ we must ourselves decrease so that He may increase. But how do we do that in our current society? It's almost forced on us to "look out for number 1". Everywhere around us is a society that embraces immediate gratification and selfish hedonism. How can we possibly decrease with all this going on around us? How can we intentionally lower our desire to please ourselves?
A few ideas:

• Immerse ourselves in the Bible daily, not just in reading, but in studying
• Prayer everyday
• May I suggest STARTING the day in prayer?
• In every situation where you need to make a decision, look to God first for direction
• Make a deliberate effort to put others before yourself. When put into practice daily, it will become natural to put others first
